31 October 2010
We decided to wake up a little later to recharge our body to full for the day. After bathing/preparing, we took the MTR and got off at Central Station. Spotted 'ting ting' on the roads!
We then walked towards our first destination of the day, Pottinger Street. It is also known as Stone Slabs Street. Spot the floor!
Everyone keep recommending the egg tarts at Tai Cheong Bakery. So of course it is a MUST TRY food when I'm in HK.
We ordered 3 egg tart and 'pei dan sou' (1 thousand-year-old egg pastry).
And Chicken Steak with Prestige Onion Sauce "Lo Ting".
Most of the stalls/shops are just setting up when we were there. So we took a quick walk along Pottinger Street before heading off to our next destination, BREAKFAST!

Another food that the newspaper recommended from that bakery is Sha Yung. But it's only available at 11am. We were about an hour early! So we thought we will come back for it later at noon.
After Tai Cheong, we went over for a REAL breakfast, okay, more to brunch. Again, we went to a recommended place called Lan Fong Yuen in Gage Street. We walked our way there as it was only a few streets away.

We didnt know that our planned day would be completed in such a short time! So we looked at the map we grabbed from the airport and spotted Man Mo Temple and Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum nearby. So we decided to have a look at them.
Along the way....
Saw an extremely old shop selling sauces.
A wall of roots.
Walked up many many flight of stairs...
And finally reached Man Mo Temple.
Overheard a tourist guide explaining that the tourists that those that touches the brush will acquire wisdom. No harm touching right? ;)
Then we followed the Dr Sun Yat-sen trail.....
Came out of the shop and spotted another temple. It was quite a shock as I did not notice it's existence at first.

Pork and Leek Dumplings

Does this means the temple starts at the 2nd floor?
is that a corpse?
Neh.. did not go inside
Pass through Pottinger Street and realised that most of the stalls are selling funky looking costumes. OH YES! 31st Oct is HALLOWEEN!
is that a corpse?
Spotted a big LV store on the way too!
Neh.. did not go inside
We walked and walked and walked.....
and reached the 'modern' part of HK. Saw lots of banks and big company buildings.

We were queuing for about 15 minutes before we realised that there's a counter which sells a Combo ticket for Peak Tram, Madame Tussauds and Sky Terrace, and we get to save some HK$ too for the combination of three things. So we jumped off the queue and bought the combo tickets. And continued to queued for another 45 minutes before it's our turn for the Peak Tram.
HK from the tram top station
It was about 3.30pm when we reached the top of the hill so we decided to go to Madame Tussauds first.
I never knew my life is such a wonder!
Michelle Yeoh greeted me at the entrance of Madame Tussauds.
I became the Queen!
I wing chun-ed with Ip Man.
Played basketball with Yao Ming.
Gave a speech in front of Obama and George W. Bush.
Nerd moments with Einstein, the genius!
Checked Shakespeare's poem for spelling mistakes.
Involved in World War I with Hitler.
Performed opera with........
Played golf with Tiger Woods.
Performed with Madonna!
Realised I'm related to The Beatles!
Moonwalk-ed with MJ!
Performed with Anita Mui
and also Miriam Yeung!
view of HK again

HAHAHAH Btw, just in case you dont know, they're all made of wax, measured and molded precisely to look like the real person. :)
After Madame Tussauds, we walked around the trails at the peak.

view of HK again
As it was nearly time for sunset, (5.30pm!), we went up to the Sky Terrace, the highest point at The Peak.
And waited for sunset....which happened at about 5.45pm.
Then we waited for HK to lit up with lights.
Then we queued again for the tram, which took us about half and hour. Then we walked to the nearest MTR station and headed off to our planned destination, Sheung Wan Station for the famous Mak's Noodle.
To our horror, when we reached there, Mak's Noodle was no where to be seen! We asked around and no one seems to know where it is. We walked around the area for a quite some time before giving up and decided to eat something else. But somehow, the limited shops available doesnt seem to offer food that we are satisfied. So we decided to go back to Central and hunt for food there.
In Central, while hunting for food, we realised that there's a lot of people at a distance. We looked around and noticed that it was Lan Kwai Fong and it's Halloween! It's the it place to celebrate Halloween! But we were extremely hungry at that time so headed off for food first!
We settled for the first shop we found in Pottinger Street (Yes, we went back there). Again, dont know what is the shop called... no English wordings! T_T
So we followed the crowd traffic all the way to Lan Kwai Fong. We can see Lan Kwai Fong ahead of us, but the Police blocked the roads in order to manage the people. There's at least 100thousand people there I tell you! (not exaggerating). Lan Kwai Fong is just 50 steps ahead of us, but we are forced to follow the one-way-street for humans by walking a big round across the town before reaching Lan Kwai Fong.
While walking towards Lan Kwai Fong with the crowd, we met lots of people dressing up for Halloween. I only took pictures of some of them.
chai sen yeh (god of prosperity) celebrates halloween too?
gingerbreadman
how uncomfortable it will be to stay inside a steel for the night?

topless guy at a cold weather who let anyone to write on his body. I'm IMPRESSED!
can u spot an Asian Johnny Depp?

After a satisfied dinner, we decided to join the Halloween crowd after being convinced by a Police that it would only take a while to go to Lan Kwai Fong.So we followed the crowd traffic all the way to Lan Kwai Fong. Some deco-s at Lan Kwai Fong.
It was really crowded so we didnt take many photos. Was too busy trying to make sure none of us got lost in the crowd!
We headed back to the nearest MTR with the help of temporary roadsigns provided by the police. MTR took us back to Tsim Sha Tsui.
The three of us shared a dessert bought from Coco Frans located in the Tsim Sha Tsui station.
Crispy Mango
