Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock), Norway

One of the place that I look forward the most for my Norway trip, was this hike to Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock).

Early morning, we checked out of our accomodation, and left our luggages with the lobby. Then, we started our journey by walking to the pier for our ferry ride, and then took a bus to the bottom hill of Prekeistolen where our hiking journey began!

Before we start our hiking
Although it was a sunny day, we were still so cold from the breeze. All of us were wearing our jackets during the day. This was the first time where I went hiking wearing two layers of pants (leggings AND skinny jeans) with three layers of top (long sleeve top, a t-shirt AND a jacket).
And the journey begins
Even after only a short hike, the view was already beginning to look so beautiful.
The view of where we started
The exercise eventually make us take out our jackets. But still not hot enough to sweat! The best weather to hike!

We continue to hike our way up the Pulpit Rock.

It was not an easy climb (or at least to my low stamina standard).

Luckily the cold weather helped us from being tired easily. And the best part is, we don't really sweat in this weather although we were hiking. Another plus point was whenever we stop, the view was magnificent. Perfect blue sky!

Sometimes we reached a straight path with no steps and we are so relieved to take a break from the climbing.
Wefie time

Along the way, there were lots of beautiful nature for us to admire.

We just continue our journey up and up, stopping awhile to catch our breath and to take photos of the absolutely beautiful view.

There were lots of rock stacking along the way as well, which I think is lovely! Feels so Zen! LOL

And as we get higher, we see even further of the view.

This is the last part of the hike. The path was quite steep with nothing to hold on.

Finally, after approximately two hours hike, we reach the top of Pulpit Rock - the steep cliff which rises 604 metres (1,982 feet) above Lysefjorden.

This is us, hanging our feet at the edge of the cliff.

And the adventurous side of me knew I had to SIT at the edge of the cliff to experience the adrenaline rush..

Honestly, seeing people sitting at the edge is very nerve-wracking. My legs turned jelly and my heart dropped when I see others dangling their feet. But when I was sitting at the edge, it does in fact feels a lot safer and balanced. Not as scary as seeing others sitting!

We also had a mini picnic of sandwiches & apples at the top of the hill, overlooking the pretty view of Lysefjorden.

We even continued our zombie jumpshot adventure here! Haha

After about an hour at the top with gazillion photos taken, it was time to hike down. It was the same path that we hiked up.

As expected, the time we took to hike down was shorter than our way up...probably took us slightly more than 1 hour to reach the entrance. Then we took the bus and ferry boat ride back to our accommodation. The workers were very kind to let us use their sauna bathroom to bathe and change.

We then took a bus ride to a train station where we took a midnight train to our next destination - Stockholm, Sweden!

P.S. : I remember, we ran for our lives when we were transiting trains as we only have 7 minutes to run to the other station to catch our train before it departs! Luckily we made it!

P.S.S : And yeap, I had sore legs which started that very evening, and for the next day!
