Bon Odori 2009

It's been many many years since i've been to Bon Odori!

Started my journey from home at 6pm and fetched Lean along the way. Before we even arrived Esplanade, the roads were already so jam! Our car moved like tortoise along the queue!

After the jam, finding a parking space is another problem! It was around 6.30pm only but the parking were already full! And there were many cars searching... oh no!!!

After a few rounds, Lean and me spotted a free space! But there was a portable hawker stall (self create word) beside the space and took nearly a quarter of the free parking space. No wonder cars just drove pass it. We thought we were so lucky! hahaha The space was quite small! I even doubted whether it's enough for my Kancil. Lean and me decided to give it a try because if not, we would have to round more rounds, or park much further....thus walk much further...

In the end... TADA!!! We were lucky afterall ;D

Then we started walking towards Bon Odori. When we reached, WOW! Less than 1 hour and there's soooooooo manyyyyyyy peopleeeeeeeee already!

I then called HooiChin but she didnt pick up. So I left her a message to call me back when she arrived. Lean and me went to buy tickets. RM20 per booklet! *sobs*



We then started to have a look at the stalls. Can plan what to buy later also. hahahaha

There were all kinds of food. Japanese of course, western, local food.. etc. And expected, they were EXPENSIVE! RM20 would buy me nothing that can make me full. Luckily I'm smart. I took some bread before I came. hahahaha

Both of us had a look at every stall available. So we know where to get food, where to play games. We even know where has less people so that we can sit down to eat our food later. Smart leh??

After a whole round, there's still no news from HooiChin. So Lean and me decided to buy some food first. We also decided to share our tickets. In that way, we can have more food, more variety. We are tham jiak monsters!

Buying food was.... horrible! We have to squeeze to the front of every stall to get our food. No squeeze = No food. Being polite and courteous is not gonna work in Bon Odori! So, we squeezed squeezed squeezed squeezed squeezed our way in for survival! FOOOOOOD!!

HooiChin then called and we met up with her. WanTing came along too with his little brother, Jien.

We quickly went over to the game stalls. We wanted to play the game where they give you a string made of paper with a hook at one end, and we have to scoop up japanese balls from a pail of water. But by the time we managed to squeezed ourselves inside, no balls left! T_T It was only 8pm at that time!

We then went over to the other game where they give you a small net made of paper, and you'll use that to scoop up goldfish(es). Jien played and he managed to win a goldfish!! It's his treasure for the night ever since!!

Then we went for food hunting again.

After everyone bought their dinner, we went over to the tables locatted by the beach and enjoy our expensive dinner.

Halfway through, the waves were so strong that it hit the wall and splashed some on land. Thank goodness there were people behind us and blocked us from getting wet. ngek ngek ngek

After dinner, we still have some coupons left, so we decided to walk around again, and spend it all.

YiWei then called that she's in Bon Odori too! We met up with her and she invited us to dance the Japanese dance along with her. That time we were having drinks on our hand plus our legs were so tired already. So YiWei continued to enjoy the dance while we just stood there looking around.

Not long later, it was time for fireworks! Everyone countdowned together! 10..9..8..7..6..5..4..3..2..1!!!


It was a lovely 5 minutes display for fireworks! Everyone just stood still and admired them. And we were so near that it feels like they are about to fall on us...

After the fireworks display, Bryan called and said he has finally arrived at Bon Odori. So we told him where we were and we met up.

After meeting up, we said our goodbyes and left. On our way back, we saw some fan and they were RM1! So Lean and me bought one each.

Walking back to the place we parked our car was tiring. And we jammed our way home too.

But I had lots of fun today. Everything was worth it!

yeah i miss yesterday too! hopefully there will be more hangouts! =) tell me when u r free la.. anyway u make me keng cheong wat izzit d. hahaha
