Part 2: Phuket - Wat Phra Thong, Thalang National Museum, Heroines Monument, Boat Lagoon, Laem Hin Pier, Phuket Town

4 October 2009 - Sunday
There's 6 of us so we decided to rent a car. Managed to find one Vios for 1300 Baht per day.

our rented car

With the help of local map and Wen's GPS, we headed off for our day!

First stop was Wat Phra Thong.

Our next stop is Thalang National Museum. All of us are not really interested of the museum actually, but since it's a place of attraction, we tourist should go for it right?

There's an admission fee if we want to enter, so we decided to just take photos outside.

Next in our map is supposed to be Heroines Museum but we search high and low, left and right but we still did not find any building. In the end we figured out that it's actually a roundabout in the middle of the road! Zzzzz...

We remembered that one of the taxi driver told us that if we are going for island hopping, then we would start our trip from dunno wat lagoon. So we searched the map and we saw Boat Lagoon. So we headed off there...

We reached Boat Lagoon and saw that it was a really high class area.

Some "Venice" style resort

We even spotted a harbour with lots of boats. What a nice scene!

As expected, we couldnt find any tour agencies there. So we headed off to Laem Hin Pier. Hoping that we could find some tour agencies there.

When we reached there, we realised that it was actually a rather local pier. Not commercialized at all so of course, there is NO tour agencies.

Laem Hin Pier

We took some pictures. And by that time, we were already hungry. So we decided to eat at the restaurant nearby.

View from the restaurant

Our meal

Our lunch costs us 750 Baht (including drinks). It was quite worth it the portion was just nice. All of us were bloated after lunch!

Then we headed off to Phuket Town. We reached Phuket Town only to realised that it's Sunday! Most of the shops are close! =(

Left: Random roundabout
Right: Phuket Town

We still walk around for a while. Then suddenly a Tuk-tuk stopped beside us and an uncle came out from it. He then explained that he has some contacts of tour agency and offered to bring us there.

And indeed we managed to get cheaper Fantasea and Phi Phi Island tour than what we have asked beforehand. So we booked our tours for the coming Monday and Tuesday.

Later the Tuk-tuk uncle offered to bring us around a few tourist area for just 60 Baht. We took that offer.

First stop was Rang Hill. The air is a little colder there and overlooked the Phuket Town. It's something like going up the Penang Hill, overlooking Penang island.

The he took us to Gems Gallery. All those shining glimmering glittering gems were sold. We didnt buy any gems, but Wen and I managed to get our necklace and ring cleaned and shined though. Hehe

Then he took us to Pornthip Sea Shore Shop. It's a store selling those local tidbits.

And our last stop was the weekend market! WOOHOOO this was the best!! There's like many many many types of different food. Shiok ka bi si!

Wen says when she Google-d about Phuket, she read up about a BIG local night market located in Phuket Town. So we didnt dare to eat too many things as we were afraid that we will not be able to eat anymore in the BIG local night market.

It turned our that THIS was the BIG local night market they were referring about. T_T so we missed out a lot of food there!! ARGHHHHH

We had our dinner in some random local hawker area. The fried rice we ordered werent that yummy. =(
