Part 5: Phi Phi Island Hopping

6 October 2009 - Tuesday
It was the Phi Phi Island Hopping Tour. The transport would arrived at 7.15am at the hotel and fetched us to the south end of the the Phuket Island.

It was a really cold morning. Rain and windy! We were served some tea and coffee while waiting for everyone to arrive.

At 8.45am, there were a speech given by the tour guide. And we were given an option to eat the seasick pill at the counter.

Everyone in my family took the seasick pill. HAHA Prevention is better than cure! Dont wanna feel nausea and suffered the whole trip right?

We left the ground and headed for the boat at 9am.

all ready to go

The guide told us that we would have a 45 minutes ride to our first island. We were advised not to move around the boat as it would be a very bumpy ride due to the weather.

And it was! Every 5-15 seconds our butt get lifted from our seats!! That happened for the whole journey! *rubbing butt* Halfway through, it was raining a little. So as the boat was speeding, rain water sometimes splashed into the boat and we were all wet!

us hiding under the towels

Before we reach the island. 4 people had vomited! All of us doesnt dare to look at them when they vomit, feeling scared that they trigger our nausea feeling too. =S Pity them though, as they wouldnt be able to enjoy that well anymore with the nausea feeling.

After 45 minutes of hiding under the towels and trying to keep our butt glued to the seat. we arrived to the first island. But it took us another 15 minutes before we can get off the boat as the sea water was really choppy and wavy. We couldnt get to the seashore! And it was also raining!

boat unloading passengers

We were drenched in water and the wind is so so so strong, thus we were so so so cold! Our teeth were chattering so badly!

white sandy beach vs clear blue water

A lot of people were just standing at the beach as it was too cold to swim in the water. And a lot of people couldnt get off the island as boats had difficulty getting to the seashore.

But just look at the colour of the sea. Totally see through! Makes me feel like I'm in Mauritius.

an island hidden by two big rocks

We spent half an hour there before we headed off to the next destination. We went in between rocks and look at stalactites and stalagmites. Too bad we couldnt get very near to them as the sea water is still choppy.

really really really clear

Then we left and went to the next destination. A cave where it's filled with bird's nest. Yet again, the sea water was choppy so we stayed far from it to avoid banging into the stones.

We speed off to the next destination. Monkey Beach. YES! They have Monkey Beach too! But theirs is better, because they do HAVE monkeys!

monkey feeding time

The ang mo kaus were all so excited to see the monkeys and cant wait to feed them. My family and I were like "cheh.. we have so many of them in Penang Botanical Garden. LOL"

Then we went a little further from the monkeys and we get to snorkel there! There were so many fishes at that area. They were so lovely and cute!

feeding the fishes with bread

The guy in charge of feeding the fishes threw many many breads on me and the fishes came swimming towards me! So scary k! Some fishes are BIG and looks EVIL!

After snorkeling, we were shivering under the towel when the boat speed off to the next island where we will have our lunch! =S

lunch area

We didnt dare to eat too full as we were afraid we might feel nausea

After lunch we headed for the main island, the Phi Phi Island. The supposedly main place for this whole trip. It took us another 50 minutes of bumpy ride to that island.

The place was very "lau juak". Many beach umbrellas were up, many boats were parked at one area, and many people were swimming/snorkeling at the other side of the island.

We rented 2 beach chairs under one beach umbrella. Then Jen, Wen and me headed off to snorkeling. Jen were happily swimming away looking at corals and fishes while Wen and me were happily feeding the fishes.

After about 20 minutes or so, it started raining dogs and cats! Everyone ran over to hide under the beach restaurant in that island. The restaurant was so crowded and it was really dark... because there are NO ELECTRICITY IN THAT ISLAND!!! So there were many Robinson Crusoe in that island.

We stayed in the beach restaurant for quite long, must have been around 45 minutes. Then it was time to go back. We grabbed our things and headed off to the boat.

Then I realised, I didnt even manage to take a picture in that island!! The Phi Phi Island!! T_T

It took us 30 minutes to head back to the mainland.

getting off the speedboat

the minibus that fetch us back to the tour place

The whole trip, we were either being poured by rain, being splashed by water during the speedboat ride or playing with water during snorkeling/swimming. Skin also got all wrinkled!! But the view is nice. Only the sandy beach and clear blue water is worth the trip!! And thank god none of my family members had seasick.

Oh I forgot to mention that a guy fell down in the boat when the boat was speeding really fast and hurt is back. He was still hurt when we reach. =( Dont ever try to walk in a functioning speedboat!

We headed straight back to the hotel as we were all tired. We took turns and bathed in the big big bathtub. Hehe
