Part 4: Phuket - Patong Beach, Fantasea

5 October 2009 - Monday
After the bungy jump, we headed off to the famous Patong Beach! The moment we reach there, we were hunting for food. Then we spotted this hawker and took one bowl each.

They are yummy! It actually tasted like tomyam, but somehow the soup is white in colour. And you get to add as much chili paste on them as you like. Two thumbs up uncle!

Then we started our journey in Patong Beach. Notice the colour of the sky, it was rather a cloudy day. But the good thing is, at least it's not hot! =)

Hard Rock @ Patong Beach

There were many shops in Patong Beach. From souvenir shops, to bars, to spa and massage, to tattoos, to restaurants, to hair braiding... PLENTY!

Then we finally reached the beach! It was a rather quiet day. No one was sunbathing, no one was surfing, no kids building sandcastles, no activities at all! All the beach umbrellas were closed up! Because it was a rainy day?

only a lonely dog was around

Later on at night, we found out that Patong Beach was quiet because there were a tsunami alert!!!! OMG!!!! Tourists like us might be dead if tsunami really happened. =S

Anyway, we were at the beach enjoying the breeze when suddenly it rained cats and dogs! ARGHHHH MONSOON!!!! We ran towards an underground supermarket nearby and bought some chocolates for tidbits.

After a while, the rain stopped. We continued to walk around the area searching for souvenirs and ate random hawker food that looks yummy. After a while it started drizzling again. =(

Spotted a sawadeeka Ronald McDonald

sizzling hot keropok lekor

the sauce yaba daba superly yummyly good!

Ah Yee and Me

We were rather bored of Patong Beach after about 2 hours. Maybe because we cant relax ourselves by the beach due to the unpredictable weather, so we gotta force ourselves to walk around the shops and stalls, and the things they sell mostly repeats!

at about 4.30pm we decided to head off to Fantasea!

The moment we reached We went over to the toilet. LOL We were all sandy and sticky due to the rain and humid weather. Too bad there were no bathrooms there. LOL anyway, we still get ourselves cleaned up as much as we can for the night!

Then we walked around the counter of Fantasea waiting for it to open. It didnt took long.

so many fishes in the pond

We were the first few to enter Fantasea, and I was stunned! Fantasea is actually a Thailand style Disneyland! I totally did not expect it!

We went over to the first entrance, Jungle Adventure.

Inside were souvenirs waiting to be sold, until I spotted an entrance saying "welcome, admission is free". Since it's free, I might as well have a look inside right?

And that's when I spotted THIS!!

a room full of snake's eyes

It is rather scary being inside alone. I called out for people to accompany me before I continue moving further in. HAHA

There were a bright exit at the end, then suddenly my world turned magical!

Everything was so white! Even the fairy. And there's even white parrots among those decos flying freely. They were hard to spot though as it was soooooo pure inside!

Then the place turned dark and gloomy again after we exited the room. We walked until at one corner, we were back to the ancient days... DINOSAUR!!

All of us were taking turns for photos with the dinosaur when suddenly the dinosaur head make some noise and spitted some gas out of its mouth! Mum's and Ah Yee's reactions was so funny!!

Then come the exit to the pond to with lots of fishes that we saw earlier. As I turned my head to the other side, i spotted a WHITE TIGER!! I was excited and literally ran towards the tiger when suddenly a camouflaged monkey scared me!

the camouflage

They actually hired someone and his job is just to scare the visitors each day! Haha I love their idea~

Then, yeah, the white tigers!

They are being magnified as the glass they place around the tigers are magnifying glass. But no doubt the white tigers are still BIG and FAT!

That was the end of the Jungle Adventure. I think it was fun as it was rather unexpected in each room. I seriously thought it is just an ordinary souvenir shops.

After that, we just walked around taking photos around Fantasea park.

the outdoor stage

inside was full of arcade games with beautiful lights

the arcade games inside

Restaurant

Somewhere In Time selling clothes

Benjarong selling gold antique vases

Yak Attack selling clothes

Fantasea Kingdom selling soft toys and souvenirs

The Royal Treasures selling bling bling diamonds

Chang & Eng that sees the world in pairs

Blue Alpsara bar

Iyara selling silver stuff

The Palace of the Elephants

By the time we "WAH" "NICE" "SEE THISSSS!", it was already dinner time. Dinner was international buffet!

The Golden Kinnaree Buffet Restaurant

The entrance

Inside the restaurant

Dont play play k! The picture was only 1/3 of the restaurant.

And this is what our buffet looks like

There's another vegetarian section and Indian section but I forgot to take pics of them. Sorry!

There werent anything luxurious like crab or lobster or prawns or abalone! But each of the food tastes good.

Halfway through the buffet, we were informed that there will be 2 performances at the outdoor stage! But by the time Daddy and I rushed to the outdoor stage, the first Ah Gua performance has ended. Sighhhhh We only managed to watch the 2nd performance, a dance with the theme Bangkok City Beat.

Daddy and I then went back to the buffet restaurant and continued our dinner.

After dinner with the restaurant waitresses

After dinner, we were about to go inside the Palace of the Elephants for the show, but we spotted elephants available for photo takings! They were all so well-trained and posed for the cameras! Jen even bought some bananas to feed them! They were cute~!~!

Ah Yee and elephant

Then we went inside The Palace of the Elephants for the show. Too bad we have to deposit our cameras in the counter, so no pictures inside the building. But I tell you, it was quite a good show!

The show took about 1.5 hours. By the time it was done, it's already 10.30pm. My family and I are already so tired after the excitement the whole day. Took the last few pictures of The Palace of the Elephants as it was not so crowded now.

Side elephants shooting water into the pond

Then, it was farewell Fantasea!
