Part 3: Phuket - Jungle Bungy Jump

5 October 2009 - Monday
We rented the car for 1300 baht again so that we can drive around Phuket. Our first stop is the Jungle Bungy Jump located in Kathu.

We then went to get some information about the bungy jump from the counter.

Getting information from the counter

It's not a very high jump. 165 feet/50 meter. And it has a 100% safety record. 2000 Baht for the jump, a shirt and also a certificate of courage.

I have always felt that I must bungy jump at least once in my life. It's like a to-do list in life. So I did not hesitate and signed up. I paid another 400 Baht for digital photos captured from top view too. Since it's my first and maybe my last bungy jump? I wont know how it feels like.

Kept asking Jen to accompany me but he decided not to risk his life. LOL So only me decided to have a go with it!

Signing up to risk my life

Right after I registered myself, they called me and prep-ed me. Weighing my weight and tying up my legs for the jump. I was seriously very not prepared yet at that moment!! I do feel scared. My legs do turned jelly.

figure 45 on my hand is my weight

When the guy was tying my legs, my legs began turned numb. I wasnt sure whether the guy tied it so tightly that I couldnt feel my legs, or I was so scared that my legs turned so numb. =S

Getting my leg tied

Halfway through tying up my left, the sky turned really dark. Rain is coming. So they guy said he will untie my legs so that I will feel my legs and be comfortable until the rain stopped. Ohhh, so it's not me feeling so scared that I cant feel my legs. It's the tying!! *fiuf*

I actually felt so so so relieved that I dont need to jump yet. I know. I chose to jump, but yet I felt relieved when I dont need to jump! Hahahahaha I guess it's just too fast. I'm not prepared yet. I need some time to implant the thought of me having a free fall of 50 meters!!

So while waiting for the rain to stop, I calmed myself down and get myself prepared for it. And also decided not to wear my pants and instead wear the swimming pants as it will be shorter and more comfortable.

It wasnt until 45 minutes later that the rain stopped. By that time, many tourists had came and registered for the bungy jump too.

The person in-charge called me for my jump. Okay, this time, I was definitely more prepared! But still scared lahhhh~~

So they tied my leg again. Then I had to jumped my way to the lift that would take me to the top.

Sitting in the lift ready to go

Then the lift moved. My heart began to melt and my legs turned into jelly slowly.

Halfway ascending to the top

It seriously felt like forever. I kept telling myself that I'm near the top already but the lift kept ascending and ascending!!! I forced myself not to feel regret being up here.

Then *DREKKKKK* the lift stopped. I was asked to hop my way to the edge where I would dive down. When I reached there, the guy told me that I need to go a little bit further, to the extent where my toes are not feeling the ground but the air. Ahhhhh~~

I dared not hop anymore, so I slowly use my feet and wobbled myself to the edge until my toes are feeling the air. I did not dare to look down at all. I kept looking front, trying to look at the beautiful scenery to calm myself.

Then the guy said, okay, lift up your hands..

Dont dare to lift up my hands at first

Hands lifted

Still, I havent look to the bottom at all! NO WAY I am going to look down!!

Then he asked, "okay?". And I know it, THIS IS IT!! This is the moment!! "Okay", I replied.

blue - instructer talking; red - me thinking
THREE....
OMG!! Am I really doing this?
TWO....
I dont think I will jump at 3... but the longer I stay up here, the worst it will be!!
ONE...

Just jump lah!!!!

And so I did.

Video recorded by Shu-Wen:

You can actually hear me shouting. And I had NO IDEA why I shouted that way. I never knew I have such sharp shout. You can hear Wen, Mum and Jen laughing at me. CISSSSSS And my mum thought I fainted towards the end!! Jen reassured her by saying that I'm still moving! =.=''

And just like that, it was over. TAN SHU-MIN DID THE BUNGY JUMP!! =D
