Part 5: South Africa - Hout Bay & Duiker Seal Island & Chapman's Peak

30th december 2008
after the trip to the Castle of Good Hope, we drove our way to Hout Bay.

look at the colour of the sky.. really like those in the painting.. blue in colour, not even a spot of cloud.... and the water is so clean and clear despite there's so many people at the beach.

look at the water. TURQUOISE in colour

some people just sun tan next to their car

we then asked around where should we go to see the seals. they told us we came to the wrong place. we have to go to the other end of Hout Bay to see the seals. =.='' so we drove another 15 minutes to the other end of Hout Bay.

once we reach there, we were hungry so we decided to eat the famous fish & chips in Mariner's Wharf.

and guess what! there were so many people queuing for the fish & chips too.. we actually queued for more than 1 hour just to get our fish & chips! =.='' but it was really worth it as it was really delicious! *licking fingers*

then we walk around, while looking for the boat ride to Duiker Seal Island.

boats

reminds me of the movie NEMO somehow lol

seagulls

souvenirs made of maniks

the boat trip booth

our boat

at first all of us were like so excited. choosing the best seat that faces outside to have a better view of the seals.

on board

but once the boat starts to move, everyone started going towards the middle. to stay hidden from the wind! jackets doesnt help to make us feel warm.

see how cold my parents are! i love this photo. loving huh? ;)

then someone shouted, "LOOOK!"

everyone goes "wowwwwww seals!"

then suddenly the boat turns, and this is what we saw.

thousands of seals

so MANY seals! no wonder it's called Duiker Seal ISLAND. not beach, ISLAND! i have never seen so many seals in my whole life before. it makes me feel like i'm in the National Geography channel. haha

all the black black dots on the rocks are seals

after the boat ride, we decided to go to Chapman's Peak Drive to see the Twelve Apostles. but it was closed! we were too late. So we just took photos and enjoy the breeze at the carpark area.

the view of the beach frontier we went earlier

behind this mountain is the place where we went for the seal boat ride
