Hong Kong Day 4

2 November 2010
We are running out of food to eat in HK! Haha! So when we woke up, we went to ask Connie, the caretaker of Lee Garden Guest House of where to get good dim sum. She recommended a nearby restaurant called Tao Heung which is about 3 minutes walk away.

So put our trust on Connie and headed to Tao Heung, which is located at the 3rd floor of one of the building in Carnavon Street.

We were given a chinese menu and we go @.@! But when we were given an English menu, we didnt know what to order. So we just ordered the norm dim sum food that we usually eat in Penang.

Po Li Tea & Char Siew Paste

Fried Springroll & Siu Mai

Lo Mai Kai & Chee Cheong Fun

Char Siew Pao & Har Kao

In HK, the Siu Mai they put the whole prawn inside! Not like the ones in Pg where they give u minced prawn, or small tiny prawns.
The Char Siew Paste and Char Siew Pao is delicious. I dont know how to explain the difference but it is simply DELICIOUS!
Fried Springroll and Lo Mai Kai was yummy too.
I dont like the Har Kao and Chee Cheong Fun as the 'skin' was slightly too thick.

All in all, it was one of the best dim sum I've ever tasted! No wonder everyone says, "Go to HK must eat dim sum". WELL SAID!

Yin still doesnt feel well, so we decided to go back to the guest house and have some nap. (Yes, talking fats for sleeping after meal). We were off to explore HK an hour later.

We headed off to the usual Tsim Sha Tsui MTR after breakfast. Went to Coco Frans again as Peter havent tasted their signature dessert the last 2 visits. Finally this time, the signature dessert, Fondant au Chocolate Puff was not sold out!

They put the Puff into the microwave to melt the chocolate after we ordered.
So Peter with much anticipation and excitement of finally tasting the signature dessert, he was putting high hopes of how delicious it would be. It turned out to be not very special. Still delicious though. So after today, no more Coco Frans desserts! LOL

So we took the MTR from Tsim Sha Tsui Station to Lai King, then changed from Tsuen Wan Line to Tung Chung Line and go all the way to the last station, Tung Chung Station.

Our destination is Ngong Ping 360 Terminal. Another cable car ride.

We queued for nearly an hour to get the tickets for cable car. We took the Crystal Cabin Cable Car for two ways to Ngong Ping, located in Lantau Island.

What does it mean by Crystal Cabin?

Glass bottom!

my feet or the lorry is bigger?

island to island

there are people who hikes using this path

Our destination - The Giant Buddha

After the 25 minutes ride in the Cable Car, we finally reached Ngong Ping. The weather was HOT HOT HOT! But after yesterday's experience in Ocean Park, we are more well-equipped! We bought along umbrellas! Not for the rain but for the sun! Although you wont really see the umbrellas in the photos. Hehe

Then we started our way towards the Giant Buddha. Along the way, there are souvenir shops and restaurants in the traditional-themed village.

In between, we stopped at a bench and ate some swiss roll that we bought from Maxim Bakery earlier in Tsim Sha Tsui Station.

Swiss Roll

Bodhi Tree
There is a legend saying that wishes made at the Bodhi Tree will come true.

Spotted Curry Fishballs and bought 1cucuk! Hehe

At the pathway heading towards the Giant Buddha, we spotted 12 warrior statues resembling the 12 chinese zodiac.

Dog Warrior

Snake Warrior

Monkey Warrior

Then we were greeted by the arch.

And we climbed the 268 steps towards the Giant Buddha.

Although for someone which has extreme low stamina, the hike wasnt really tiring. Maybe due to the reason that we kept on stopping to take pictures. Hehe

What's on top besides the Giant Buddha?

We entered into the hall located at the Giant Buddha where it's tells the story of Buddha's life in pictures, and also a place where the Chinese would place the ancestor's tablet. We spotted Anita Mui's tablet there too, with many gifts and flowers and notes from fans. It's nice to know that a successful singer like her is still remembered!

We did not took the tour there, so left touring the hall after taking pictures around the Giant Buddha. We bought an Mango Drumstick Ice Cream too as the weather was really hot and those ice creams are seducing us with its coldness!

Quite nice as it is very refreshing, and most importantly, cold in such a hot weather!

After visiting the Giant Buddha, we went over to the Po Lin Monastery to have a quick look.

We left the place using the cable care at around 5pm.

We were so hungry when we finally touched down on the ground. So we went to the mall located next to the Cable Car station, Citygate!

(sky still bright as pic was taken when we first reached)

We went straight to the food court for food!

Wanton Noodles Set

Chicken Rice Set

Geng Geng Drink & Mango Wrap Dessert

After filling our stomach with food, we were ready to continue our day. Peter went to a bookstore he spotted while Yin and me shopping in Citygate.

If you are observant, you might have notice in the Citygate building picture that it wrote there Citygate Outlets... YES!! It means the shops here are factory outlets = DISCOUNTS!!! :D

Yin and me did walked around but we didnt really buy anything big/expensive like sport shoes as the shops werent really on big discounts. We both agreed that July will be the perfect time to come here for the summer sales!
However, we did spend a little in Esprit and TheBodyShop. *wink*

Oh, and as you might have notice, no pictures of us shopping. HAHAHA

After shopping, we went back to Tsim Sha Tsui the same as we came (MTR). We stopped by at a 'healthy drink' shop to drink some cooling tea.

As usual, no name for the shop unless you can read chinese characters.

We didnt know what to order when we were there. So we simply chose. We tried the "Yi Sap Sei Mei" (24 Herbal Tea) and Ya-Li Pear Tea.

The "Yi Sap Sei Mei" was very very very very bitter that we had to add sugar in it. LOL The Pear Tea was bitter but drinkable.

After torturing ourselves, we headed back to our guest house which is just opposite the herbal tea shop.

After bathing, Peter and Yin says they're hungry! So they went around our guest house to hunt for food, while I slept off in the guest house.
